Revision of my Harley / Revidering från mina Harley

For a long time I walked around with the idea to give the engine of my Harley Davidson a real clean upp, this because it was not looking so nice anymore.
23 years ago it left the factory in Milwaukie and now with around 75000 miles
on the speedometer was it time to give the engine his revision.

After a short search on the internet I ended upp at Jan Smit's Power Parts in Wormerveer.
When you enter de garage, immediately you see the nicely in the shop builded  dragrace motorcycles, where they also drive races with.
There are also standing all kind of machines to build or refresh engines with.
They just have added also a new spray booth.
With other words, those guys knows how to build motorcycles and engines.
You can come here to get more power out of you bike or just for maintenance
or just like me a complete revision of my Harley engine.
If you wanna know more about them, look at there website www.jspp.nl

After an appointment was made, they picked up my bike at home.
A good price agreement you can not really make on a revision because there
are always unexpected
expenditure.

This is because you do not know what appears when the engine is going apart, then you see what is worn and needs replacing.
For me that was, among other things, the crankshaft, the piston heads who looked a bit burned on the head, a push rod that was worn out and the inflammation who only give a spark to one coil.
In other words, the overhaul was
desperately needed.

Here you see good how bad the Harley engine looks, its time for a facelift.

Here is the Harley already partially stripped in the workshop at Jan Smit's Power Parts.
Här är Harley redan delvis stripad i verkstaden vid Jan Smit's Power Parts.

Here are the tank parts, seat, footrests and shift and brake pedals removed.

What does a Harley looks bare without some of the parts.

Luckily my Harley in good hands so this will all come good.

Again a look at the very weathered engine.
Återigen en titt mycket vittrade motorn.

Here some loose parts like the tank, what driven gear and the pirmary cover.
Här är några lösa delar såsom tank,
kugghjulen och pirmary cover.

Here is the engine completely removed.
Här är motorn helt bort.

What does the Harley looks so bare.
Vad ser de Harley så naken ut.

The removed engine is placed on a stand, that's easier to work on.

Here is one of the cylinder bodies removed and a cylinder head comes out.

I think this one needs replacement.
Jag tror att de behöver ersättas.

This is the result after 23 years and 75,000 miles worked in an engine.

Here are the components that have come out and needed replacement.

The different parts are back from the painter.

Building up the engine can start again.

Unfortunately there are no more pictures from building up the engine so that's why you see the result immediately.
I myself am very happy with how my Harley
engine is looking now.
Oh, and he drives again superb, you just feel again that he has more
horse power
.

Compare this picture with the one on the top and see how it has been refurbished.

Is this a good result, or what?

I can drive many miles again with this new looking engine.

Maybe some yellow spark plug wires?

The silver scratch midway the block is no damages, but ...

that's where the bottom and top of the cylinder casing comes together.

This is the result of my Harley with overhauled engine.
What I now like to change is the exhaust, I want those nice straight pipes
on it.

I also want to replace my windshield because I now catch much wind and riding with force 4 wind is no fun.
Also, the risers should be replaced because the chrome is
getting loose.
I think
after that its ready, but
in the end you are never done with your bike .
